I’ve done it again, I’ve posted on Daily Tech Talk. Go check it out here. Comment it even!

To help out my friend who runs DTT, he needs a web designer, and pretty badly. If you’ve got some talent in Web Developing hit him up at admin [at] dailytechtalk [dot] com.

No Music Challenge [Day 7!]

26 07 2008

I’ve done it! A whole week without the use of the iPod app or iTunes! Although, it was really no challenge, quite easy in fact. I’m going to start doing a full writeup on the experience soon.

How did you all do?

No Music Challenge [Day 6]

25 07 2008

This morning, I was awoken to the sweet sounds of The Blow’s “Parenthesis” (my ringtone for when my girlfriend calls). I got dressed, and then we were off to Orlando International Airport. Just as I was getting ready, I showed Ashley how to set up her own station on my account.

Since I was the one driving, I was in charge of the music, so the entire way, Pandora was on the dial in the car. After getting into Orlando, I switched on 3G since, according to AT&T it is there. I enjoyed the “Blazing the F*ck Fast” speeds fo the 3G (sorry, iPhone 3G camping joke) while I could. I left 3G on all the way home, and was happy to see that the 3G network is actually really close to near where I live, so I guess we’ll be getting it here sooner that I would have expected.

Over the transition from 3G back to EDGE, it felt almost seemless, exept for the buffer times between the tracks. Naturally, my signal dropped out eventually and it wouldn’t play the song without cutting in and out.

I’m surprised that this week is just about over. Have any of you taken up the challenge? Share your feelings in the comments.

No Music Challenge [Day 5]

25 07 2008

On the fifth day of my No Music Challenge, I cleaned the house. I wasn’t going anywhere today, whatsoever, so, I cleaned (god, I sound like my mother). Now, I use the vacuum pictured above. As you may, or may not, know Dysons are known to not loose their sucking power over time, this is true due to the EXTREMELY powerful motor inside. It truely sucks (yaay for puns!). Such suckage makes this vacuum 10 times louder than the traditional vacuum. Listening to my iPhone helps a lot. So, since I was in my house, I decided to listen to my Neighborhood on Last.fm (yaay WiFi!). Afterward, I went back to the Pandora app on my MacBook since I needed to clean my room for my girlfriend’s guests who are coming from Ohio and Illinois soon.

No Music Challenge [Day 4]

23 07 2008

Another day on my No Music Challenge. It’s getting quite difficult due to the absolute battery drainage that happens, and for whatever reason, I forget to put my USB cable in my car [my FM Transmitter has a USB port for charging]. Unlike most of the past days I was working in the morning, the prime time for me to listen to my own music instead of the muzak at my unnamed place of employment. [aparently some of it is new music, I just can't stand it, I'm sorry] I attempted to play Last.fm, but I’m guessing the stream bandwidth is too large for EDGE, so instead I listened to my beloved Pandora radio.

My Pandora radio station is called DanceDance, since it has music to dance to on it. The peak of my work day started as soon as I heard the intro to Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” [pictured above]. Somehow, in my mind I became Walken in the hotel. Needless to say, I was the only person in the whole building dancing.

What I’d like to know is: if you’ve been following this challenge, and have been doing it also, how have you been doing? Do you miss your iPod yet?

The No Music Challenge [Day 2 and 3]

22 07 2008

As of late, I’ve been pleasing my ears to a station I’ve created on Pandora. I know I’m going to sounds like an advertisement here, but by giving Pandora a couple of my favorite artists, it has been playing me music that I actually like the whole time. I don’t know half of the music I’m listening to, but in all actuality, I like what I hear.

Currently, I’m doing a bit of writing outside of this blog, so I don’t know if I’ll be posting a whole lot today, since I’m trying to impress my possible future employer with a classic example of specialKolin. Oh well, it shall be an adventure.

EDIT: I slipped up a little. On the ride home from Subway (not in my car) I couldn’t stand listening to the local radio, and Tropical Storm “Holy Sh*t!” dropped my signal down to 1 bar, so I played a couple IMA Robot songs I left on there.

No Music Challenge [Day 1]

20 07 2008

So I’ve decided to call it the “No Music Challenge.” Technically today isn’t over yet, but really for me it is. I woke up around 8 am and went to work, the entire time I listened to a Pandora station I created. Then once I got home, the real fun started.

I had to mow the lawn [awesome, I know]. Sadly, outside my house isn’t a Mecca for signal, on EDGE nonetheless. Pandora wasn’t really able to play more than one track at a time, same with Last.fm. So I turned to my purchase of Tuner, and it actually delivered good music for the rest of the duration.
I must say, though, just pushing that iPod icon was very tempting.
We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Food For Thought [No Music Challenge]

20 07 2008

Earlier today I tweeted a thought I had while I was walking through one of my local Windixies. Now that we have the App Store on the iPhone, and in the App Store we have select apps like: Tuner, Last.FM, and Pandora. So, with such powerful music apps, do we really need to fill our iPhones up with music?

Through the creative nature which is the Internet, I immediately got called a “dumbass” by a dude who tweets about once a minute. Although I offered a rebuttal, my friend couldn’t back up his remark. Oh well.
Of course, I know it was slightly a retarded question, like asking a sailor to use a powerboat instead of a sailboat, but I have reason to believe that it was a completely legitimate question.
So, how about it? I think I could go a week without using the iPod app, and just using Tuner, Last.FM, and Pandora. Of course, as you can see from the picture above, my area is still in the stone age of EDGE, but, believe it or not, the apps work just fine.
Anyone dare oppose me?
