iPhone 3G Camping in Tampa [part 4 of...many]

So security has forced me to return to the indoors. In fact, they requested it twice that I return inside. I guess I’m still number 1, considering almost every Apple employee knows me by now. So I’m now camped at the sitting area right across from the Apple Store. Someone’s going to get smacked if I lose my spot. I’m tired of security, seriously. To make light of the situation, I have power! That means more nonsense updates! woo!

iPhone 3G Camping in Tampa [part 3 of...many]

Yes, it’s me, I’m holding my own at the number 1 spot. As you can see, no one else is in the line. Well, except this other youngster, but he keeps coming and going, so I don’t know if he’s officially #2. The ropes are up, and I don’t think I have to move until later. Maybe around 9-ish, or when the line “officially starts” at 7. I’ve been given some water, so I’m happy, even though it doesn’t look like it in the picture. It’s still quite hot out here. 104 according to the MacBook, which, of course, could be a little off, but all is well. 

Still waiting for you Tampa campers! …and an extension cord so I can charge this machine. I have 1/4 battery left. =(

iPhone 3G Camping in Tampa [part 2 of...many]

So I was sitting here, and a couple guys from TampaBay Online came by and started asking me questions. Pretty awesome, I’d say. I’m going to be on there at some point tonight I think they said. I’m quite stoked, lol. I’m probably going to get more visitors to the site, so I better beef up the blog. So yeah, look out on TBO.com and the Tampa Tribune for something from Neil Johnson. May I say, he’s pretty damn cool of a dude. [He's pictured above]

iPhone 3G Camping in Tampa [part 1 of...many]

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am right outside of the Tampa International Plaza [I might go inside in a little bit, it's freaking HOT]. Entrance E to be exact. Not to mention, I am the very first person in line to get the iPhone 3G, since the line officially starts at 7pm [I'm a tad early, don't you think?]

Sitting inside, rather, much more comfortable. It would appear that the automatic door has been partially disabled, only allowing people out. Since the mall closes at 9, I’m going to resecure my camping spot outside at 6-6:30.

So basically, I’m waiting for you, Tampa campers!

iPhone 3G Camping

Okay, so I’ve basically packed. Not everything is in bags yet, but they’re going to be soon and very soon. Here’s some key things you campers should grab on your way out.

- Clothes and deodorant, the others want you smelling good, it doesn’t matter if you care or not.

- comfort is the way to go, wear whatever is most comfortable, you’re going to be in line for a VERY long time. 

- bring some non-electronic entertainment; I’m bringing one of my favorites: Naked Lunch by Burroughs, you’re not always going to have power (try bringing extension cords and/or power strips)

- backup electronics; in the event you don’t have power, and your phone dies or your camera dies or your laptop dies, have a back up to entertain yourself

- food, well, duh…as much as I would like to get to the front of the line as fast as possible, I don’t want you all to die from hunger. Personally, I can go a LONG time without eating but really I’m bringing food anyway, cause I’m going to need it.

- and of course, don’t forget to check me out on iGerard’s Blog TV Thursday and Friday, as we cover the events from the Tampa Apple Store.
